Phone cases

A phone case is first and foremost chosen by exact device model: two phones from the same brand released months apart can have different camera cutouts or dimensions, making a case incompatible despite looking similar. The most common materials are soft silicone, comfortable to hold and a good shock absorber in a drop, and rigid polycarbonate, thinner and often used for high-definition printed designs. Some models include a magnetic ring compatible with the magnetic charging and mounting systems found on recent phones, worth checking for before buying if that feature matters to you. Printing on a rigid case generally lasts longer than a design printed on silicone, which can fade with repeated handling and prolonged skin contact. Whatever the material, a case mainly protects the edges and back of the device: it doesn't replace a separate screen protector against drops onto a hard surface.
