Brazil hosts one of the largest K-pop fandoms outside Asia, and one of the worst served by local stock. Nearly every album arrives by import, from Korea or from an international seller. Because the country sits outside the European Union, the rules described for European markets do not apply: the seller charges no EU VAT, but Brazilian import taxes remain payable by the recipient. This guide explains what that changes in practice, what stretches delivery times and what to check before paying. pocabase lists 765 albums and 1966 versions.
Buying from outside the European Union
For a seller established in the Union, a delivery to Brazil is an export: the sale is exempt from EU VAT. The price paid therefore contains no European tax. In exchange, the parcel enters Brazil as an ordinary import, and the duties and taxes set by Brazilian rules are payable by the recipient.
That difference is structural and worth reading before buying, not after. The amount paid at checkout contains no entry tax: whatever is due in Brazil comes on top, at import. Import taxes: the figures we will not give
Brazilian rates, thresholds and import procedures are national rules and change regularly. This guide therefore gives no figure: a wrong number would cost more than no number. The general rule is stable: a parcel from abroad is declared on entry, assessed on the value of the goods and the transport, and the recipient settles what is due before handover.
Before a large order, check the rule in force with the Brazilian customs administration or with the carrier that will deliver. This is the one point in this guide where an official source is essential, and it is also the one that weighs most in the final cost.
Delivery: fifteen to thirty working days
To Brazil, allow 15 to 30 working days between dispatch from Korea and delivery, customs clearance included. That is longer than to Europe for three reasons: distance, the number of air connections, and processing time on entry. The clock starts at dispatch, never at the order.
On a pre-order, add the wait until the official release date, then preparation at the Korean distributor, often a few days to two weeks on a large release. A pre-order paid two months before delivery is not unusual. Tracking moves to a local carrier on arrival and can stay silent for several days during import processing.
Paying from Brazil
Prices are listed in euros, dollars or won depending on the seller: the amount debited depends on a conversion into reais, done by the seller, the payment network or the bank. The three do not apply the same rate or the same fees, and an international purchase can carry specific banking charges.
On a pre-order, payment leaves weeks before delivery: the rate applied is the one on the payment date, not on the delivery date. On a grouped order the exchange gap becomes visible. Also check that the delivery address is complete in local format, with the postcode: an international parcel is rarely re-presented more than once.
Group orders and local resale
With little stock available, part of the Brazilian fandom buys through group orders: one person collects the orders, places a single purchase with a Korean retailer, then forwards each share from within Brazil. The appeal is sharing an expensive shipment and reaching POB offers that require a minimum volume.
The downside is the same everywhere: the relationship is private, with no professional remedy if a parcel is lost, damaged or abandoned, and a grouped parcel is more exposed to entry taxes, which the organiser passes on. A serious group order states the retailer, the deadline, how import charges are split and how items will be forwarded before collecting money. Fan resale, meanwhile, stays the only route to a sold-out version.

Choosing a version when shipping is long
The longer the journey, the more format matters. A photobook version is heavy, thick and exposed to corner damage; a card-sized version travels in a rigid envelope and handles rough treatment better. Weight and dimensions are shown on each version page on pocabase, next to the format, the EAN and the inclusions.
Also look at the number of photocards and how they are drawn. A version advertising one card out of twelve does not let you pick a member: when every order carries a long shipment, that detail often decides between two versions. Comparing inclusions before buying avoids ending up with two versions containing the same card.
